The Fortum Art Foundation

The Fortum Art Foundation was established in late 2005 to attend to the collections of artworks acquired by Fortum Corporation and its predecessors during the course of their history. The collection donated by Fortum contains some 300 works by 125 mainly Finnish artists.

The aim of the Fortum Art Foundations is to own and look after works mainly connected to the tradition and history of oil, power, and energy industries. The Foundation also promotes Finnish fine arts and the research of art history

  • by attending and adding to the  collection and by putting the art works on display
  • by borrowing works of art to exhibitions in Finland and abroad
  • by supporting Finnish art

The collection of the Fortum Art Foundation includes works from the so called Golden Age of Finnish Art, contemporary art and sculptures. A distinct aspect of the collection is provided by applied art and crafts

The Foundation has published a richly illustrated book by Tuija Tervo The Light of Art – Roots in Tradition, Focus on the Future which gives an excellent insight into the collection.
